The Launchpad is the application launcher introduced in macOS X Lion. With it, all the apps on your Mac are organized in one convenient location, making it is easier to see, access, and manage them. Open an app
- Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, or pinch closed with your thumb and three fingers on your trackpad. Then click an app to open it.
- You can also type an app's name to find the app in Launchpad, then press the Return key to open it.
- To close Launchpad without opening an app, click the background, or pinch open your thumb and three fingers.
Organize apps
- Arrange apps: Drag an app to a new location.
- Create a folder: Drag an app onto another app.
- Close a folder: Click outside the folder.
- Rename a folder: Open a folder and click its name. Then enter a new name.
Add or remove an app
- Apps that you download from the App Store or that are included with macOS automatically appear in Launchpad. If you download an app from another source, you can add it to Launchpad by moving the app to your Applications folder.

Launchpad is a highly useful feature in macOS. It has been developed to offer an iOS-like approach to managing apps with more convenience on Mac.
At times, you may find some apps missing from the Launchpad interface. Generally, the newly installed third-party apps wouldn’t be showing up. In order to fix the issue or bring back the missing apps, you need to reset the Launchpad.

Use Default Locations for Applications
Step #1. Starting off, click on the desktop.
Step #2. Next, you need to click on the Go menu located on the menu bar.
Step #3. Now, press and hold the Option key ⌥. Then, click on Library.
Step #4. Next, you have to double click on the Application Support Mac os x run classic apps. folder.

Then, you need to drag all files ending in .db into the trash.
Step #6. Click on the Apple icon at the top left the corner of the screen → Finally, you need to click on Restart → Restart button.
